About EL and EDSITEment
EpistemeLinks is a member of the EDSITEment,
http://edsitement.neh.gov. EDSITEment is a joint project from the
National Endowment for the Humanities, MCI Communications Corp., and the
Council of the Great City Schools. Its purpose is to provide a convenient
gateway for parents, teachers, and students, to the very best websites in
history, foreign language, literature, art history, and other humanities and
social sciences, including philosophy.
The EDSITEment experience includes:
-
a user-friendly website with links to many of the top humanities sites, including the ability to search all of these sites at once
-
hundreds of online lesson plans which bring EDSITEment to life for teachers, students, and their families
-
and exciting in-school activities.
Episteme Links was first nominated for inclusion in EDSITEment in December
1997. A peer-review panel, composed of college and university faculty as well
as master teachers from middle to high schools from around the country,
convened in February and gave Episteme Links a very high rating. In late March
a blue-ribbon panel, comprised of leaders in education, government, and
business, confirmed the value of Episteme Links for achieving EDSITEment goals.
Episteme Links joined EDSITEment in late May 1998. It is the first entirely
philosophy-focused site to be included.
