Critical Review
Description: Critical Review seeks to draw on all of the social sciences in examining the effects on human well-being--not just on material prosperity--of not only laissez-faire capitalism and the alternatives to it, but of all other conceivable forms of social life. For instance, we are interested not only in publishing research on the politics and economics of the interventionist and redistributive state, and on the economic effects of capitalism, but anthropological research on the effects of modernity on human happiness; studies of the influence of capitalism on art; historical work on the origins of the modern state and its nationalist-liberal development; historical and political-economy studies of whether that state is a necessary concomitant of modernity, or is instead the product of popular or intellectual misapprehensions about the failings of capitalism; political science research on public opinion formation, public ignorance, and the real-world nature of mass democracy and state bureaucracy; cultural studies of the dynamics of human desires under capitalism and democracy; and sociological work informed by (or critical of) state theory as well as classic sociological theory.

Economics and Philosophy
Publisher: Cambridge University Press
Description: The disciplines of economics and philosophy each possess their own special analytical methods, whose combination is powerful and fruitful. Each discipline can be enriched by the other. Economics and Philosophy aims to promote their mutual enrichment by publishing articles and book reviews in all areas linking these subjects. Topics include the methodology and epistemology of economics, the foundations of decision theory and game theory, the nature of rational choice in general, historical work on economics with a philosophical purpose, ethical issues in economics, the use of economic techniques in ethical theory, and many other subjects.

Ethics and Economics
Description: Ethique Economique / Ethics and Economics

Games and Economic Behavior
Publisher: Elsevier
Description: "Games and Economic Behavior facilitates cross-fertilization between theories and applications of game theoretic reasoning. It consistently attracts the best quality and most creative papers in interdisciplinary studies within the social, biological, and mathematical sciences. Most readers recognize it as the leading journal in game theory."

Independent Review
Description: The Independent Review is a peer-reviewed quarterly publication devoted to the study of political economy, broadly construed. It was created to meet the needs of two audiences: (1) serious general readers who seek a more detailed analysis of politico-economic issues than is found in most public affairs magazines, and (2) scholars who wish to keep abreast of developments in fields related to political economy, including public policy, history, law, and political philosophy. The main purpose is not to develop a particular discipline but to advance the reader's understanding of the multifaceted reality to which the term "political economy" refers. In keeping with the goal of bringing serious scholarship to a wide audience, The Independent Review strives for academic rigor written in lively, jargon-free prose.

Inroads
Description: "Inroads is a journal dedicated to making inroads into the intellectual solitudes that divide this country. It provides a forum in which Canadians with different viewpoints contribute to finding practical solutions to political, economic and social problems. The writing is lively and engaging, the content well-researched but not stuffily academic, opinionated and engaging but not dogmatic, and the design innovative and attractive. Because it is interested in policy outcomes and not intentions, Inroads respects no sacred cows."

Journal of Libertarian Studies

Journal of Risk and Uncertainty
Publisher: Kluwer
Description: The Journal of Risk and Uncertainty publishes original contributions, both theoretical and empirical, dealing with the analysis of risk-bearing behavior and decision making under uncertainty. An important aim of the journal is the encouragement of interdisciplinary communication and interaction between researchers in the areas of risk and uncertainty. The level of scientific sophistication of the papers is high, but they are accompanied by an introductory discussion setting out the nature of the work and the implications of the findings in a manner that makes them accessible to workers in other disciplines. The papers published in the journal are mainly drawn from the areas of decision theory, economics of uncertainty, risk and public policy, experimental economics, and psychological models of choice.

Philosophy and Public Affairs
Publisher: Blackwells
Description: Philosophy and Public Affairs is founded in the belief that a philosophical examination of public issues can contribute to their clarification. It contains philosophical discussion of substantive legal, social, and political problems, as well as discussions of the more abstract questions to which these discussions give rise. Philosophy and Public Affairs is designed to fill the need for a periodical in which philosophers with different viewpoints and philosophically inclined writers from various disciplines - including law, political science, economics, and sociology - can bring their distinctive methods to bear on problems that concern everyone.

Politics, Philosophy, and Economics
Publisher: Sage Publications
Description: "Politics, Philosophy and Economics is a long-awaited and unique new forum for the interchange of methods and concepts among political scientists, philosophers and economists interested in the analysis and evaluation of political and economic institutions and practices."

Public Affairs Quarterly
Publisher: University of Illinois Press
Description: Public Affairs Quarterly provides an impartial forum for the philosophical study of public policy issues. The journal features articles that bring philosophical depth and sophistication to current topics in social and political philosophy and that focus on the ethical and justificatory aspects of public policy issues. Some topics addressed include social, economic, and distributive justice; environmental problems; the social and political status of women, senior citizens, and minorities; abortion and euthanasia; patriotism; criminal justice; and ethical issues in medicine, business, and the professions.

Quality and Quantity
Publisher: Kluwer
Description: Quality and Quantity is a journal that constitutes a point of reference for all European and non-European scholars willing to discuss instruments of methodology for more rigorous scientific results in the social sciences. The journal publishes papers on causal analysis, models of classification, methods for constructing typologies, graph theory applications, mathematical models applied to social mobility, models of choice behavior, mathematical models of voting behavior, discussions on the general logic of empirical research, analysis of the validity and verification of social laws, and similar topics. Essentially, Quality and Quantity is an interdisciplinary journal which systematically correlates disciplines such as mathematics and statistics with those of the social sciences, particularly sociology, economics and social psychology. The ultimate aim of the journal is to widen the discussion of the most interesting contributions to methodology to scholars of different nations, the objective being the scientific development of social research. The journal therefore avoids accepting papers which have no applicative potential.

Quarterly Journal of Austrian Economics

Reason Papers: A Journal of Interdisciplinary Normative Studies
Description: "Reason Papers is a peer-reviewed, blind-reviewed journal appearing annually. It features book reviews and review essays along with full-length articles. Not strictly limited to philosophy, we publish work by economists, legal scholars, political scientists, and others, provided the content is normative in the philosophical sense. In addition to articles on moral, political, legal, and social/cultural philosophy, we will also run essays on aesthetics. While we are a friendly haven for classical-liberal/libertarian/objectivist thought, we have no ideological litmus tests."

Social Choice and Welfare
Publisher: Springer
Description: Social Choice and Welfare publishes original research, survey papers and book reviews on the ethical and positive aspects of welfare economics and collective choice theory. The appropriate topics comprise social choice and voting theory (normative, positive and strategic sides) as well as all aspects of welfare theory (Pareto optimality; welfare criteria; fairness, justice, and equity; externalities; public goods; optimal taxation; incentives in public decision making; cost-benefit analysis; etc.). Articles on choice and order theory may also be published if their results can be applied to these topics. Papers both verbal and formal in style are being solicited.

Social Philosophy and Policy
Publisher: Cambridge University Press
Description: Social Philosophy and Policy is an interdisciplinary journal with an emphasis on the philosophical underpinnings of enduring social policy debates. The issues are thematic in format, examining a specific area of concern with contributions from scholars in philosophy, economics, political science and law. While not primarily a journal of policy prescriptions, articles typically connect theory with practice.

Theory and Decision
Publisher: Kluwer
Description: Theory and Decision is an international journal for methods and models in the social and decision sciences. The purpose of the journal is to let the engineering of decision making (i.e. of intelligence, choice, sorting out, ranking, uncertainty and conflict resolution) gradually emerge. Special attention is paid to complex or ill-structured situations. Mathematical or other formalised treatments are favoured, if they provide a correct model of the situation under study.

Utilitas
Publisher: Edinburgh University Press
Description: Utilitas is a pioneering interdisciplinary journal of moral and political philosophy, economic theory, jurisprudence, and intellectual history. It welcomes articles, discussions, debates, and reviews on contemporary themes in these disciplines where utilitarianism has made a particular contribution and on all aspects of the development of utilitarian thought (including that of its opponents). The journal is supported by the International Society for Utilitarian Studies (ISUS), which sponsors major conferences, seminars and other meetings, and makes special offers on books at advantageous rates to members. Individual subscribers to the journal automatically become members of the Society. Other features of the journal include the ongoing Bentham and Mill bibliographies and a number of special issues or parts of issues on particular themes and individuals.
