** How to Directly Financially Support EpistemeLinks.com **
EpistemeLinks.com has now joined the Amazon.com Honor System! Over the years, many users of ELC have asked how they can support the site -- financially speaking that is. Up until now, the only way was to use the Amazon.com and Powells.com banners and links at ELC. The support gained from commissions from these sites has been appreciated, but has essentially only helped to cover server expenses for the site. Now you can do more, by providing direct support for the creator of the site. You will see "PayBoxes" as well as banners sprinkled throughout the site for the Amazon Honor System.

EpistemeLinks.com has long provided value to professors, students, and the greater philosophical community. Over the years I, Thomas Stone, have spent some 2,000+ hours on this project. EpistemeLinks.com gets hundreds of thousands of unique visitors a year, and I know from emails how valuable most visitors find it to be. And I am continuing to add new features, more links, and other improvements. These voluntary payments are a way for those who gain value from the site -- and have for many years -- to help support the person behind it, and in particular the future growth of the site.

Wondering what to give? If you're a regular visitor, using the site several times a week, I'd suggest 50 cents a week, or about $25 a year. If you visit less often, consider $10 for a year. You might also consider a one-time payment for the many years of value you've gained from this website. Its entirely up to you -- payments can range from $1 to $50. Thanks for your support and I hope you continue to find the site valuable!

Again, this program is entirely optional -- ELC is not a membership or subscriber-based site. But if you would like to do so, you may use the link below or click on the appropriate banner or paybox graphic at the site. Thanks!

** New "Broken Links" Page **
Last month I mentioned the new, semi-automated system for rooting out the broken links in the ELC database. I have now expanded on this by creating a page on the site that lists the URLs that have turned up "dead" or otherwise in need of an update. With some research, I am often able to find the correct, updated link for a particular site. So this page lists only those sites for which I cannot, at this time, find a workable link. Please note that in some cases these links might have only been down for a few days, so I will revisit these sites from time to time to see if they are back up and running again. If you know of a new URL for one of these sites, or if you know that the site is permanently down, please let me know. Thanks!

** FOLDOP 1.8 is Released from SWIF **
The good folks at SWIF (surely the largest Italian-based philosophy resource online) have launched version 1.8 of FOLDOP -- The Free On Line Dictionary Of Philosophy. This resource is still growing, but already includes hundreds of entries spanning all areas of philosophy. Entries are generally short and to the point, making it a handy reference tool. Further, you don't have to stay online to use it -- you can download the entire thing and search it locally if you like. Check it out at:

** Broadcast.com Audiobook Links Removed **
The AudioBooks section of the ELC database provides links to audiobooks available on cassette or CD. Formerly, it also provided links to such books available as streaming audio online, from Broadcast.com. However, when Yahoo! recently integrated broadcast.com, it made my links no longer functional. I have not been able to relocate the several dozen philosophy-related titles either, as this section of their site is (surprisingly) not easy to use -- IMHO. Know that I hope to provide links to streaming audio philosophy titles in the near future, as I believe some will be available from Audible.com in conjunction with Amazon. However, if you know of other sources for academic philosophy titles available as streaming audio online, please let me know. Thanks!

** Latest ELC "Gems of the Web" Winners **
Each month (usually) EpistemeLinks.com gives a "Gem of the Web" award to an outstanding philosophy resource site. The most recent winners have been:

David Chalmers Web Resources
http://www.u.arizona.edu/~chalmers/

The Pragmatism Cybrary
http://www.pragmatism.org/default.htm

Stephen's Guide to Logical Fallacies
http://www.datanation.com/fallacies/

The Fallacy Files

For details on these and all past winners, please visit the Gems Archive at:

** New Entries at the SEP **
I like to draw attention to the latest entries at the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy, because it provides such well-written articles. Since my last newsletter, the SEP has added seven more articles, listed below. These articles are all linked from their What's New page at http://plato.stanford.edu/new.html. (Authors are given in parentheses)

Nicholas of Autrecourt (Hans Thijssen)
The Uncertainty Principle (Jan Hilgevoord and Jos Uffink)
Communitarianism (Daniel Bell)
Cambridge Platonists (Sarah Hutton)
Sophismata (Fabienne Pironet)
Gregory of Rimini (Christopher Schabel)
Johannes Sharpe (Alessandro Conti)
