EpistemeLinks.com Update Newsletter, v.6, #4, 7/08/2002
------------------------------------------------------
http://www.epistemelinks.com/
EpistemeLinks.com is now in its 6th year online! It has been over four weeks since the last newsletter, and I have a few items to report.
As always, the latest links added to the ELC database can be found at the What's New? page:
http://www.epistemelinks.com/New.aspx
Newsletter Headlines:
** Quotations by Philosophers Section is Launched **
** Expanded Coverage of Professors and Graduate Student Homepages **
** About ELC Section Updated and Expanded **
** Latest ELC "Gems of the Web" Winners **
** New Entries at the SEP **
** Upcoming Events in Philosophy (July/August) **
Details for each item follow below.
** Quotations by Philosophers Section is Launched **
EpistemeLinks.com now has a section for Quotations by Philosophers. You can search for quotes by author or by topic area. Currently, there are over 300 quotations in the database, and over half of these have been categorized by one or more topic areas. There are also various categories such as humorous quotes, and the beginning of a list of "famous" (aka "Greatest Hits") quotations from philosophers. The initial database was derived from the quotations collected by (and with the kind permission of) The Philosopher's Magazine. Additional quotations will be added in the coming months, from both my own research and visitor recommendations.

** Expanded Coverage of Professors and Graduate Student Homepages **
Typically I do not discuss the simple addition of links in this newsletter -- for details on the most recently added links, readers can visit the What's New? page at the site. However, when a massive expansion takes place, it deserves mention. In the last newsletter I mentioned the update and expansion of the journals section; this time I can mention the Professors and Graduate Students Homepages section. I've recently made several hundred additions to this area, bringing the current total to just over 1,000. Many of these new additions already have "Areas of Specialization" categories assigned, as nearly 100 of those recently added have responded with their information.

** About ELC Section Updated and Expanded **
The ELC Usage Statistics section has been updated to included the June 2002 overall usage numbers, as well as the 2nd Quarter 2002 browser and platform numbers. Also, a brief chronological history of EpistemeLinks.com is now available in the about ELC section, including the highlights of its development since 1997. This might be helpful for anyone who is new to the site! Also of potential interest: a partial archive of these ELC Update Newsletters emails is now available online as well.
